The Team
CHRISTER
Christer Bechtell is an artist with a background in filmmaking, sculpture, landscape design, house painting, and high-end wallpaper. Hanging wallpaper lets him pursue his true passion – bringing art into the lives of every day people. He trained directly under Susan Macuna before purchasing the business in 2019. He hangs all types of wallcoverings.
Corey
Corey Avery is a multimedia artist and musician. For years she worked as an artists' assistant, helping internationally recognized artists realize their visions in and out of the studio. Her keen attention-to-detail beautifully translates into the skillful precision required to install a wide range of wallpapers. She trained under owner Christer Bechtell and paper-hanging quickly became one of her many passions.
The Story
Since 1998, our company has been a member, in good standing, of the Wallcovering Installers Association of America. We’ve earned certifications in professional standards, as well as 2 national awards in residential wallpapering (2013 and ‘14). In 2015, we received a Top Job award from American Painting Contractor magazine.
It all started in 1988, when Susan Macuna started Macuna Wallpapering LLC. Through a dedication to her clients and a drive to be the best, Susan built a successful wallpaper-hanging business. In 2007, she moved the business to Minneapolis, weathering the financial crisis of 2008. She kept the business going through it all, while also training a business partner, Christer Bechtell, to carry on her legacy. Susan retired in 2019, and Christer bought the business. He enlisted his good pal, Nik Nerburn, to help out. Together, Christer and Nik specialize in providing the highest quality wallpapering services in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area.
